For the defendant in a civil case, jury selection is an opportunity to make sure the jurors who have taken the tort reform message to heart don't go too far and excuse themselves. That's exactly what happened in a Harris County, Texas, courtroom last week, when 40 of 93 potential jurors told the judge they couldn't be impartial because they "hated" lawsuits and lawyers.
