On January 1, 2003, Illinois Supreme Court Rule 306 was amended to provide for immediate appeal of class action certifications. The Illinois Appellate Court has the discretion to decide whether to hear the appeal.
Keep in mind, however, that the right of immediate appeal only applies to cases that were filed on or after January 1, 2003. See the "explanatory note" following Rule 306.
