The details of the new Illinois CLE requirements can be found in certain Supreme Court Rules that were amended by an order entered today. New lawyers must complete a 15 hour "basic skills course" (Rule 793). Other lawyers will be subject to yearly CLE requirements (Rule 794). Thanks to Jeremy Richey for the heads up.



I hope the new lawyers' CLE isn't as horrendous as that which was foisted upon new Michigan lawyers in the early 90's.
Why not make such a course a prerequisite to passing the bar, and actually test on its content?
