If you're like me, you probably receive what used to be called "advance sheets"--summaries of recent case law--by way of email. I get a number of these from different sources such as Law.com, Find Law, and the Illinois State Bar Association.
Here's a tip: rather than deleting the emails after giving them a cursory once-over, save them in a Gmail account set up specifically for that purpose. Not only will Gmail give you unlimited free storage, but it's also easy to search your emails whenever you're confronted with a knotty legal issue and want to quickly check recent law.
Well, effectively unlimited. Mine's up to 2675 MB (2.6 real, 1024-MB GB) so far.
I use my Drafts folder in my Gmail account as a handy document-storage bin myself. I use it a LOT.
For you Mac-using lawyers (or Mac-using non-lawyers, but I figure most of them aren't reading this blog) out there, there's a neat tool that will allow you to use Gmail as a remote disk - gDisk, the fellow calls it. That could be a good way to balance those things.
