Last week, the US Supreme Court approved the changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure that were forwarded to the court by the Judicial Conference last September. The changes, which deal with electronic discovery, affect Rules 16, 26, 33, 34, 37, and 45, as well as Form 35.
Unless Congress acts to delay the amendments, they will become effective December 1, 2006. You can read more about the amendments at Law.com and the Electronic Discovery Law weblog. The texts of the amendments can be found by following the links at the Federal Rulemaking page.
I last posted about the amendments in July, 2005: "Electronic Discovery: Get Prepared for Coming Changes to the Federal Rules."
